ECUADOR and VENEZUELA will open this Saturday from 7 p.m. (Buenos Aires time) Group B of the United States Copa América at Levi’s Stadium, located in the city of Santa Clara, California.
For that match, Conmebol appointed referee Wilmar Roldán. Below are ten facts from the previous meeting.
1 – Ecuador and Venezuela will play for the fifth time in the history of the Copa América. In the four antecedents there were two wins for El Tri, one for Vinotinto and a draw.
2 – They always faced each other in the group stage: Ecuador 1993 (Ecuador won 6-1), Colombia 2001 (Ecuador won 4-0), Argentina 2011 (Venezuela 1-0) and Brazil 2021 (they tied 2-2) with a balance of one Vinotinto victory, two Tricolores and one draw .
3 – Venezuela remains undefeated in two games against Ecuador in the CONMEBOL Copa América (one win and one draw). The last Ecuadorian joy was the 4-0 in Colombia 2001.

4 – The last time that both teams met in the general history was on the fifth day of the 2026 qualifiers (they tied without goals in Maturín, Venezuela).
5 – Ecuador lost one of the last 10 games against Venezuela in the overall history (4 wins and 5 draws). The loss was in Caracas 2-1 for the Qualifiers for Qatar 2022 (October 10, 2021).
6 – They are the only team from South America that have never been champions of the Copa América. The best performance of the Venezuelans was in Argentina 2011 (4th place), where they lost 4-1 to Peru in the duel for 3rd place.
7 – The Tricolor is the team that played the most editions (30 with 2026) without ever having lifted the title.
8 – Venezuela’s worst streak of consecutive defeats occurred between 1995 and 2004 when he fell in 14 games.
9 – Venezuela scored goals in 2 of the 8 games in the 2 recent editions in Brazil (2019 and 2021) and in both they did not lose (3-1 to Bolivia in 2019 and 2-2 vs. Ecuador in 2021).
10 – Ecuador faced 13 teams in the history of the Copa América and only beat four more than once: Paraguay (3), Uruguay (3), Venezuela (2) and Colombia (2).
