After a strong explosion, they discover a burning car belonging to a Friese retiree

Minutes before three in the morning yesterday, the barking of a dog woke up a 75-year-old retiree, residing on Presidente Perón Street in the Yapeyú neighborhood of the city of Frías. Unable to fall asleep again, the man heard a loud explosion, forcing him to get up. Believing that the dog’s barking could have been caused by a cat on the roof and the thunderous noise would come from another part of the housing complex, the retiree entered the bathroom. In that circumstance, he noticed through the windlight that a “yellow light” was coming from his garage. He left the bathroom and opened the door, at which time he observed that his Chevrolet Prisma car was on fire. The flames were focused between the hood and the windshield.

Likewise, the victim noticed that there were burning newspapers on top of the trunk and pieces of burning cardboard near the rear wheels. Both the paper and the cardboard were not in the garage and did not belong in his house.

Desperation took over the owner of the vehicle and he tried to put out the fire, but he couldn’t. A grandson and some neighbors came to the requests for help; Together they managed to push, get the vehicle out of the garage and put out the fire before it caused further damage.

Once tempers had calmed down, the family made inquiries among their neighbors. One of them indicated that moments before the accident was discovered, he had seen a subject who ran away from the retiree’s home. This suspect ran towards Presidente de la Plaza Street. Meanwhile, the witness would have observed the presence in the vicinity of a second individual on a motorcycle, who possibly acted as a “bell.” He fled down Presidente Perón Street towards Islas Malvinas Street.

The victim filed a complaint at Community Police Station No. 23. The retiree maintained that he does not know what the cause of the attack could be.

The police are carrying out investigations to establish whether the man or any of his relatives have problems with other people. They carry out tests to establish the cause of the start of the fire.
