Beijing.- With a series of judicial guidelines aimed at staunch “Taiwan independence” separatists, China on Friday revealed a new, precise and legal weapon to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The guidelines on imposing criminal punishments on staunch “Taiwan independence” separatists for carrying out or inciting secession were jointly issued by the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and the ministries of public security, state security and justice and came into force upon his release.
The guidelines can be considered as an improvement and complement to the country’s Anti-Secession Law. By clarifying the criminal nature of “Taiwan independence” separatist acts, their criminal responsibilities and the procedure for imposing sanctions, the final outcome is established and law enforcement is facilitated. A peaceful and prosperous future for people on both sides of the Strait depends on a strong and reunified nation. To facilitate reunification, separatists must face criminal proceedings.
