From the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT) developed a contingency plan in the face of the widespread strike of workers at the State Railway Company (EFE) that during this Monday will affect the services of trains in the Metropolitan Region (RM), of Valparaíso, Biobío and La Araucanía.

During this day the service between Alameda and San Bernardo was suspended, but this Monday the service operations will be added between Limache – Puerto (Valparaíso), Biotrén (Biobío), Victoria – Temuco (La Araucanía), which motivated the authority to have a special plan for this Monday.

The Undersecretary of Transportation, Jorge Daza stated that “together with EFE, Metro and Red Movilidad, as the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications we have established a contingency plan for this Monday, June 24, due to the stoppage of EFE train drivers. Both in the Metropolitan Region and in the regions of Valparaíso and Biobío, a series of special mitigation measures will be available, such as support buses, reinforcement of services and frequencies of public transport buses.as well as Metro, as a result of the suspension of the service of EFE Valparaíso, EFE Biobío and the Estación Central-Nos train.”

According to the details provided by the authority, in the RM, there will be available 56 reinforcement buses that will make routes between the affected EFE stations and Metro stops.

In detail, from the seasons Nos, 5 Pinos, Maestranza, San Bernardo, Freire and Lo Blanco, the vehicles will arrive at the El Pino Hospital Station, on Metro Line 2.

In the case of the stations Lo Espejo, the support will reach Metro El Parrón (L2) and in the case of Lo Valledor to San Alberto Hurtado Metro (Line 1).

In addition, the RED system routes will be reinforced 211, 217e, 201, 271, G07, G08, G23 and G43.

Similarly, Santiago Metro, will increase train capacity during the morning and afternoon peak hours. On Line 2 it will do so with 30 trains and on Line 1 with 44. Furthermore, in the L2 the operation of the express line will be suppressed and there will be loop trains entering stations Cal y Canto and Los Héroes to increase the offer.

In the case of the communes of Buin and Paine, the tour operating companies in the area committed to increasing their frequencies at peak times. Buses Paine will do so with 40 buses, while Transber will reinforce rural routes 600, 601, 603, and 609, bound for Central Station.

From EFE, operations will be carried out with a coverage of 69 buses, of which 22 buses will be in peak am and pm blocks. 47 buses will be there throughout the day from 06:30 to 22:00, the departure time of the last bus.

For the communes of Buin and Paine, 22 buses are scheduled to leave the Buin and Paine stations heading to Metro Lo Valledor and back to both communes.

For its part, EFE Sur, through Biotrén Line 2, will operate with trains at peak time morning and afternoon every 15 minutes, “covering a demand of 50% of a normal day of peak time,” says the authority.

In addition, they report that a Short Laja service will be available with a morning service from Laja to Talcahuano and an afternoon service from Talcahuano to Laja. There will also be 40 support buses: Lomas Coloradas, Juan Pablo Segundo and Hualqui.

In turn, in EFE Valparaíso there will be 55 buses that will make the route Puerto, Villa Alemana, El Belloto, Quilpué, Viña del Mar, Francia and Puerto. There will also be reinforcement in the morning rush hour from Limache to the Port and in the afternoon rush hour, from the Port to Limache.
