San Antonio will host its first “Make Music Day” music event in the city this Friday

The city of San Antonio will present its first Make Music Day on Friday.

Krystal Jones, who works for the city, explained what this new event is about.

“This is an international celebration of music. “This started in France, and it was an initiative to get people to make music, whether they were professional musicians, amateur musicians or anyone,” Jones explained. “It’s simply the celebration of how music transcends language and brings people together. And we are excited to be a part of that this year,” he added.

Although there will be events throughout the city, one of the main activities will be at the Texas Public Radio headquarters.

“Our Poet Laureate Eddie Vega will recite a great poem to start the celebration. And then there will be musicians playing all day,” Jones said of the event. “We will have artists Pop Pistol, Gavin Gonzales, Apollo Black, and Sierra Lynn Brown. There will be a wide variety of music that truly exemplifies the diversity of San Antonio. “It’s a great family event, with all these events all over the city, and you’ll be able to see all the ways we make music in San Antonio,” he added.

Make Music Day events at TPR and throughout the city are free.
