The Spanish Chamber of Commerce and REDFUE sign a collaboration agreement to promote the employability of students

Madrid, June 25, 2024.- The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Spain (Chamber of Spain) and the Spanish Network of Business University Foundations (REDFUE) have signed today a collaboration agreement to strengthen the link between the academic and business world that has among its main objectives to promote the employability of university students.

The importance of this link lies in the establishment of a joint collaboration framework between the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the REDFUE in order to maintain a line of mutual cooperation and share activities of interest through participation in those commissions and activities of the Chamber of interest for REDFUE.

The main objectives of this collaboration are to shorten distances between education and the world of work, improve the university-business relationship, promote innovation, support the sustainable and competitive development of the Spanish economy and social development.

To this end, both institutions undertake to participate in those work commissions of common interest and to develop activities and conferences that help reinforce the social projection of the university and companies and their commitment to society, and support any initiative that results in the improvement of higher education, the employability of university students and entrepreneurship within the framework of higher education.

For Adolfo Díaz-Ambrona, Secretary General of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, “this agreement reflects and will allow us to accelerate the interests and objectives shared between the Chamber of Spain and the Network of University-Business Foundations, both working for the benefit of companies and the students themselves. Improving higher education and the employability of university students, closing the gap between education and the world of work, is vital if we want to boost the competitiveness of the Spanish economy as well as its sustainable and social development.

After signing the agreement, Fernando Martínez, president of REDFUE and executive vice president of the FUE, recalled that “at REDFUE we have been working, for more than 25 years, with the commitment to progress society through the tools that collaboration between the universities and companies. For this we have the boards of our associates, in which 47 Spanish universities and more than 300 companies and entities are represented.” Furthermore, he added that “this agreement brings with it a series of strategic advantages for both institutions and not only strengthens the ties between the academic and business sectors, but also creates an environment conducive to innovation, improving the employability of our young people. , entrepreneurship and social responsibility.”

About REDFUE

The REDFUE is a non-profit association declared of public utility founded in 1997 and formed by university-company foundations that aim to strengthen collaborations between universities, agents of the productive system and society in general as a guarantee of development and social progress in matters of employability, training, entrepreneurship, innovation and knowledge transfer.

The Association continues to grow and this year it has incorporated three new members: the Fundación Universitat Jaume I-Empresa de Castellón (FUE-UJI), the Fundación Empresa-Universidad de Alicante (FUNDEUN) and the Foundation of the University of Oviedo (FUO ). In total, REDFUE currently has 22 associated foundations and is linked, through its members, to more than 47 Spanish universities and a thousand organizations, including companies, chambers of commerce, business associations or national and regional administrations. and local.

LA REDFUE, through its associates, has promoted more than 950 R&D&I programs, and more than 34,300 people have participated in its internship programs and more than 42,000 have been trained in one of its programs.
