Alfie mentions that the victims include a journalist from Télam, a journalist who interviewed him, a gender columnist from his radio program, a student from the TEA journalism school and a secretary from the University of Belgrano (UB). After the dissemination of these testimonies on X, some users shared their own experiences, and the Argentine Journalists group echoed the complaints, which have not yet been brought to justice.

The details of the cases against Pedro Brieger

One of the cases is described by Alfie as follows: “Journalist Cecilia Guardati, at that time a Télam journalist, traveled to Tunisia in 2008 to cover President Cristina Kirchner’s tour. She’she was in Tunisia. We were notified by the Presidency that Cristina Kirchner was going to speak after dinner. Brieger told me that she couldn’t go and she asked me to give him the audio of her when she returned from that meeting. As a colleague, I had no problem,’ Guardati said. ‘When I returned from the conference with Cristina Kirchner, I received another message from Brieger, asking me to take her audio to her room and tell her what Cristina had said. On this type of trip, the room becomes an office, so I never imagined what would happen next. When I get to her room, I see that the door was ajar. I entered and found Brieger naked, lying on the back of the bed, talking to me and covering himself with a sheet while masturbating. I left immediately and never spoke to him again. Imagine, they had sent him to cover Cristina Kirchner’s tour for Public TV, and he was doing this,’ Guardati told me.”

The journalist explained that she did not file the complaint because she was not aware that she could file a complaint, in addition to the fear of facing a “journalist in power, with political ties.” This type of reasoning is similar to that of other women who also reported harassment situations, as detailed by Alfie in X.

Alfie commented that the investigation began after publishing in Clarín in October of last year about a labor lawsuit that “an international journalist” won against Public TV and National Radio. On that occasion, the journalist had to be compensated with $224 million for ten years of work, a figure that public media lawyers considered “exorbitant and disproportionate.” Following that article, a journalist from Télam contacted Alfie to recount an episode of sexual harassment on a trip to Tunisia which motivated the beginning of this broader investigation.

Brieger categorically denied all accusations

“What you propose in no way happened. My life was, is and will be public, I am a journalist,” she responded to Alfie’s questions. Furthermore, he stated that he has no contact with the mentioned women and stressed that these are unfounded accusations.

The accused journalist also warned of possible legal action if the allegations persist, suggesting they could be used to divert attention from “other government problems.” “If they force you to publish it anyway, do whatever you want because the truth always prevails,” Brieger said.
