Oil production increased 8.8 percent year-on-year in May, while gas production rose 11.4 percent, according to data from the Ministry of Energy. “Production continues to rise: in addition to the year-on-year growth, positive figures were recorded during May compared to previous months,” he indicated. That is, the sector maintains the expansionary trend without the need for the extraordinary benefits granted by the new investment promotion regime, RIGI, included in the Base Law.

Energy reported that 692.9 thousand barrels of oil were produced daily, which represents an increase of 0.2 percent compared to April. Meanwhile, 150.2 thousand m³/day of gas were produced, 8.4 percent increase compared to last April.

In another order, the Secretariat indicated that between January and May, gasoline and diesel exports rose 85 percent compared to December. According to official information, this translates into an annualized income of $475 million. On the contrary, fuel sales – gasoline and diesel – to the domestic market have been falling for six consecutive months. The decrease in May was 8 percent year-on-year.
