The Peruvian jurist Alberto Borea Odría was elected Judge of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR Court), for the period 2025 – 2030, in elections held during the 54th General Assembly of the Organization of American States, held in Asunción, Republic of Paraguay.

Considering his high professional and academic qualities, as well as his recognized career in the defense of democratic values, in addition to the importance of alternation in the composition of said legal body, the candidacy of Dr. Alberto Borea obtained significant support from the States Parties to the American Convention on Human Rights, to fill one of the three vacancies for the position of Magistrate of the IACHR, together with Diego Moreno Rodríguez of the Republic of Paraguay; and Ricardo Pérez Manrique of the Republic of Uruguay.
