Two dead after a small plane crashes in an olive grove in Castro del RíoCORDOVA
Two people have died this Saturday in a aircraft accident that has collided with the ground in a olive grove area Located in the municipal district of Castro del Rio.
The deceased are A Man and a Woman between 40 and 56 years old, according to sources from the CÓRDOBA newspaper Civil Guardl, who have not provided further details about the identity of the victims.The same sources have indicated that the aircraft’s itinerary was from Seville, from where it had departed, to Murcia.
The accident took place around 10:05 a.m., according to the information provided by the alerters to the emergency telephone number 112, who said that they had seen a small plane fall “on an area of olive trees”. One of the witnesses also said that “a strong smell of gasoline” was what led them to discover the aircraft. The accident took place near the A-3129 highway, in Castro del Río.
Fuselage debris within a two kilometer radius
The Civil Guard, Firefighters, Local Police, the Andalusian Emergency Group (GREA), the air traffic control and coordination and rescue centers were immediately activated. Official sources indicate that the authority is proceeding to remove the bodies.
The Civil Guard is investigating what happened and there is still no hypothesis about the cause of the accident.
