The Civil Guard found this Saturday the dismembered remains of a woman and two children in the cold storage of a home in Las Pedroñeras.

Apparently she is a woman of North African origin, a resident of the town of La Mancha, who, along with her two minor children, had been missing since this Friday.

According to the Civil Guard, the remains found in a house next to the victims’ home are compatible with the identity of the people they were searching for following a complaint received by the woman’s colleagues, after she did not show up at her workplace.

The victim’s ex-husband, a Moroccan citizen aged around 44, who had a restraining order due to the violence he inflicted on his wife, has been arrested.

The event has shocked the town of La Mancha, where the couple, who had two children aged 5 and 7, had lived for a long time.

According to local sources, the woman worked at Las Pedroñeras Town Hall and had repeatedly reported the mistreatment she was subjected to by her husband.

In fact, it appears that the alleged murderer, who worked in the local slaughterhouse and no longer lived with his family, was awaiting prison after being convicted of sexist violence.

The murdered woman, allegedly at the hands of her ex-husband, was in the VIogen Protection programme and is the third victim of gender-based violence in Spain in less than 24 hours.
