The last season of one of Netflix’s gems has become a complete nonsense – Series news

I have never been so disappointed by an ending before.

Netflix has hidden gems in its extensive catalog of movies, documentaries and series. But others are not so hidden, being recognized at numerous awards ceremonies, such as the Emmys, Oscars or Golden Globes.

As is the case with The Crown. The series created by Peter Morgan was Netflix’s ‘pretty girl’, being acclaimed by both the specialized press and the audience. Until it came to an end with the broadcast of its season 6 in 2023.

During their deliveries, they have been three actresses who have given life to Queen Elizabeth II: Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton. Each and every one of them doing an incredible role. This last season was divided into two parts, the first of four episodes released on November 26, 2023 and the second of six episodes on December 14. AND It’s all nonsense.

With Claire Foy we saw one of the most legendary episodes of the entire series, ‘Force Majeure’ (1×04), with Olivia Colman that of Aberfan (1×03), but with Imelda Staunton none stands out like the others.

But that is not the main problem. Many fans of the series were eagerly awaiting how it would go. The Crown tell the death of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and treated it in the least successful way possible.

Considering that Queen Elizabeth II, its creator revealed that season 6 of The CrowIt wasn’t going to be like a love letter to her. But it feels forced and perhaps that is why the topic of Princess Diana was not treated as expected.

Most criticized were the brief ‘ghostly’ appearances of Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed, (Khalid Abdalla) after their terrible accident in Paris. But it is also joined by the way of treating the death of her mother, which quickly, after that event, moved the series to how Guillermo’s (Ed McVey) love life was going.

Prince Harry’s memoirs could be a mine for ‘The Crown’: it has given the Royal House headaches, but it helped in one scene

The final stretch of The Crown lbecomes somewhat tedious due to the prominence of William and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy). Plot that is totally unnecessary after some sad and notable events such as the death of her mother or that of Isabel’s sister (Lesley Manville).

In short, season 6 of The Crown It becomes long and without anything notable. A farewell to one of Netflix’s gems that didn’t do it any justice.
