Review of the series Palm Royale, from Apple TV+

Palm Royale is an underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she attempts to break into the high society of Palm Beach, Florida. While Maxine tries to cross that impermeable line between the common people and the ‘good people’, “Palm Royale” asks the same question that still baffles us today: How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice in order to have what others have? Set during the turbulent year of 1969, Palm Royale It is a tribute to all those who ever tried to make a place for themselves in a place that, apparently, was not theirs.

Loosely based on the novel “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie” by Juliet McDaniel and produced for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios, “Palm Royale” is written, produced and directed by Abe Sylvia for Aunt Sylvia’s Moving Picture Company. The series is produced by Laura Dern and Jayme Lemons for Jaywalker Pictures and Kristen Wiig, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Tate Taylor and John Norris for Wyolah Films, Sharr White, Sheri Holman and Boat Rocker. The series is directed by Tate Taylor, Abe Sylvia, Claire Scanlon and Stephanie Laing.
