Dating shows are not new on television in our country. In fact, ‘First Dates’ is a regular on Cuatro’s lineup. The space presented by Carlos Sobera has been on the air for several seasons and always presents good audience data. In addition, they will soon release a summer edition that has been recorded in a luxurious hotel in Moraira. Now, ‘Naked Attraction’ had never been seen in Spain.

The dynamics of the program are as follows: Two participants will try to find their ideal partner by looking only at the genitals and physique of six people waiting in six colored displays. The details of the candidates’ bodies are progressively revealed and the singles openly make assessments about the physique of strangers.

Of course, to be on equal terms, once the person with whom to enjoy the date has been chosen, the main participant also undresses. Later, the two head to a public place where they can get to know each other better. Furthermore, although this is the main dynamic of the program, there are also reflections that address issues related to sexual health and physical prejudices. Something very groundbreaking and different.

The person in charge of presenting it is the Valencian Marta Flinch, main host in the recent editions of ‘Big Brother’ and ‘Big Brother Duo’. Of course, the episodes have been recorded since 2021 but HBO Max has decided to wait almost three years to release it.

As expected, the program has not been without controversy. Many social media users couldn’t believe what they were seeing and didn’t quite understand the purpose of the space. «They go with EVERYTHING. Without censoring or hiding ANYTHING,” commented a user of X (previously known as Twitter).

Lack of understanding due to age classification

The presence of naked bodies has triggered a different assessment in MAX and Movistar + when evaluating the age rating. According to MAX, the program is suitable for those over 12 years old, while Movistar considers that, since the genitals are not pixelated, it should not be seen by anyone under 16. Perhaps behind each decision there is room to address issues related to sexual health and physical prejudices.
