Gastón Salgado is a renowned 39-year-old Chilean actor who plays Pablo in “Al Sur del Corazón”the foreman of a farm who is going through a bad time after his wife died.
However, two women appear in his life, who represent two ways to get out of sadness and continue with his life. In exclusive conversation with TiempoX, Salgado spoke about the complexity of his character and his experience working on various productions throughout his career.
Pablo’s emotional state in “Al Sur del Corazón”
Regarding his character, Gastón Salgado pointed out that Pablo is in a difficult moment due to mourning. “Pablo is dealing with grief and guilt, which does not allow him to see new opportunities. Judith and Milagros represent new possibilities of being happy and get out of depression,” explained the actor.
He explained that the relationship between Pablo and Milagros, a character played by Francisca Armstrong, has evolved from a capricious attraction to a deep and real connection, despite their social, life and even generational differences.
“He is older than her and has a very different way of seeing the world. That attracts them, but it can also cause the end of the relationship, because people so different maybe shouldn’t be together”commented the actor.
The actor highlighted the pleasure of working with Francisca Armstrong. “She is super talented, she has a very nice energy, she really likes what she does and it shows. We have a lot of complicity, which is very important to interpret a relationship on screen,” said Salgado.
Gastón Salgado reflects on his career
Gastón Salgado reflected on his professional career, mentioning that at the beginning of his career he participated in many short films before moving on to series and films.
“The actor must be able to work in any format. Although I have always wanted to act in films, you can’t make enough films a year to make a living from that alone. Television and soap operas offer a stable space”he explained.
Finally, he stressed the importance of television series in the training of an actor. “The intense pace and numerous daily scenes allow the actor to keep moving and constantly exercise his skills. I think all actors should experience the space of teleseryes”, he concluded.
