Located in the heart of the Arousa estuary, the cobblestone streets of the town allow the visitor to contemplate and admire an environment steeped in history. Today, the urban center of Cambados is the result of the fusion of three original neighborhoods: the stately Fefiñáns, the administrative and commercial one, and the fishing neighborhood of Santo Tomé. The best way to enjoy the town and its magical atmosphere is to walk through its streets, which lead to emblematic places such as the Torre de San Sadurniño, the promenade and the marina.

Among the notable monuments are the ruins of Santa Marina, the manor and the Fefiñáns square, the church of San Benito, the Ramón Cabanillas house museum and the ethnographic wine museum. This set of attractions, together with squares and crosswalks declared a Site of Cultural Interest, make up the beautiful town of Cambados.

Additionally, the nearby beaches are ideal for a dip if the weather permits. Another essential point is the viewpoint of the Shepherd’s Mounta, from where you can see a spectacular view of Cambados, O Grove and A Illa de Arousa, as well as the manors of Ulloa, Bazán (current inn), Torrado and Montesacro.

Cambados has one of the most unique trails on the Camino de Santiago. This is the Traslatio Route, also known as the Xacobea Route of the Mar de Arousa and Río Ulla, characterized by being carried out largely by boat. The route begins at the entrance to the Arousa estuary and continues along the Ulla River until reaching Pontecesures.

From this point, pilgrims continue on foot from Padrón, crossing the bridge towards Iria Flavia to finally join the Portuguese Way in the direction of Santiago de Compostela. The Traslatio Route combines navigation with traditional walking, offering a different perspective among the multiple Jacobean routes.

The town has one of the richest cuisines in Spain and one of the most impressive Camino de Santiago routes takes place through it.
