Production of the new Max series, formerly HBO, The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel to Game of Thrones, has recently begun in the Northern Irish city of Belfast, as reported by the American platform. The series is an adaptation of George RR Martin’s novel The Knight Errant and, of its six episodes, three will be directed by North American Sarah Adina Smith.

Last April, Max revealed that Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell will star in the new saga, which is set “a century before the events of Game of Thrones,” according to the advance summary.

Claffey, an Irish actor and former rugby player, will play Dunk and ten-year-old Briton Sol Ansell, known for his role as young Coriolanus in The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, will play Egg.

The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Knight Errant is based on the Dunk & Egg Tales by the American writer, which are part of a series of short novels that are a prequel to A Song of Ice and Fire.

This second prequel to Game of Thrones—after House of the Dragon—will be set in a time when the Targaryens hold the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet disappeared, according to the official synopsis.

It will tell the story of “a naive but brave young knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (Claffey), and his diminutive squire, Egg (Ansell)”, who live in a world full of powerful enemies and where dangerous deeds await them. according to the statement.
