We may end up with two slightly different stories, but Julia Quinn promises that Francesca Bridgerton is going to break our hearts
Season 3 of ‘The Bridgertons’ has been, as expected, one of Netflix’s bombs this year. And although many fans have enjoyed the romance between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgertonnot everyone has finished either comfortable or satisfied with these last chapters.
Especially with a twist on Francesca Bridgerton’s character, which promises that her story will be somewhat different from that of the original books.

If drama is going to be the same
The third season of the series has introduced several changes compared to the original material. Although one of the most notable for fans of the books is Michael Stirling’s gender change, who has already been introduced in ‘The Bridgertons’ as “Michaela”. This change, with the promise of a sapphic romance for Francesca, has divided fans, but the author of the books is asking for patience and a little faith.
“Many ‘Bridgerton’ fans have expressed surprise, and some also disappointment, at the twist at the end of season 3. That Michael Stirling, with whom Francesca eventually falls in love in ‘Bridgerton’s Heart,’ Be Michaela instead.” Julia Quinn wrote from her Instagram account. “When Jess Brownell [showrunner de la serie] “I was first approached with the idea of turning Michael into Michaela for the series, I needed a little more information before I gave my approval.”
It seems that Brownell and Shondaland ended up convincing her, because now Quinn has reaffirmed his faith in the team to continue bringing his books to life..
And she is convinced that Francesca’s story in the following seasons will be the “most heartbreaking and emotional” that we have seen so far in ‘The Bridgertons’. And even more so because the third season has done a very good job of introducing John Stirling, Francesca’s husband, and giving him much more time on screen than he had in the books.
