The highest peace body on the planet expressed this weekend its concern about the growing operations and meetings of tribal supporters of the RSF in the town located in the North Darfur region.

The Council called on the parties to the conflict to end the build-up of military forces and take measures to de-escalate the situation and fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law.
He also reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, leading to a sustainable ceasefire.
El Fasher is the only area in Darfur not entirely controlled by the RSF and is home to hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people, including survivors of previous attacks who sought refuge in the area.
The situation is particularly serious for women and girls, victims of a constant threat of violence both within Sudan and in refugee camps across the border in Chad.
The UN Secretary General himself, António Guterres, assured last week that an attack on the city would have devastating consequences for the civilian population in an area that is already on the verge of famine.
In this context, the Security Council urged all member states to refrain from interference that could escalate conflict and instability.
Instead, he called on the international community to support efforts to achieve lasting peace, while calling for compliance with arms embargo obligations.
