Branson and his family were heading to Dickson, Oklahoma, to reach shelter when powerful winds caught the car and caused it to crash hard into a tree.

Wayne and Lindy Baker, the child’s parents, were trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle.

That’s when Branson, who was unharmed after the accident, managed to get out and ran to get help. “Mom, dad, please don’t die, I’ll be back,” were his last words before leaving, according to what he said. CNN.

The little boy traveled more than a kilometer in the middle of the darkness, of branches flying everywhere and electrical cables dislodged by the storm. Finally, after ten minutes, he arrived at the house of a neighbor who was able to alert authorities about the accident.

“The only way to find your way back is lightning and Every time lightning struck, it lit the way. The boy ran as fast as he could, as hard as he could, he probably did a mile in 10 minutes, and that’s pretty impressive for a little boy,” Johnny Baker, the boy’s uncle, recounted in amazement.

“One of the most horrible things I have ever seen in my life,” he added.

Until the end of April, state authorities reported at least four dead, including a four-month-old baby, and multiple material damage as a result of the tornadoes.

This Monday, about 70 million Americans will also experience storms, tornadoes and hail in the Plains and the Ohio River Valley, in the central region of the country, according to the Storm Prediction Center (SPC, in English).

“It is likely that there will be multiple strong, long-track tornadoes, hail and strong damaging winds this Monday,” the SPC indicated in a message, which warned that these conditions for these phenomena could extend until Wednesday.
