Rescue teams recovered four bodies after artillery shelling of the Al-Zaytoun and Tal Al-Hawa neighborhoods in the northern city of Gaza, the official Wafa news agency reported.

Four others lost their lives in a similar incident that occurred in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, in the same town. In the Bureij refugee camp, in the center of the coastal enclave, six citizens died, including a baby, in an aircraft attack on a home.

The aircraft also fired at houses located in the Nuseirat refugee camp and the nearby city of Deir al-Balah, killing one person.

Wafa reported 10 deaths and numerous injuries from the bombings against the city of Khan Yunis.

The news outlet detailed that warships and artillery opened intense fire against Rafah, the epicenter of an Israeli ground offensive since the beginning of last month, which included the border crossing of the same name.

Since October of last year, the latter represented the only gateway to Gaza for food, medicine and fuel. The Israeli press detailed that the military is advancing from several axes towards the center of that town, which before the operation was home to more than a million Palestinians, most of whom have since fled.

The soldiers secured control of the so-called Philadelphia Corridor, a strip of Palestinian land 100 meters wide and 14.5 kilometers long that runs parallel to the demarcation line between the coastal enclave and Egypt.
