According to the CNE, more than 13.7 million people would be eligible to vote, however, that number will or will not be ratified on August 13.
In this sense, the institution detailed that political organizations may present any objection this month regarding this preliminary registry.
The electoral registry also determines the number of citizens aged 16 who can vote, the number of people who have died or lost their electoral rights, and the registration of foreigners.
On May 9, the CNE released the official calendar for the elections on February 9, 2025, when citizens must elect the president, vice president, the 151 legislators and five Andean parliamentarians.
The disclosed schedule contemplates that from September 13 to October 2 of this year, the registration of the candidacies will take place and the electoral campaign will extend from January 5 to February 6, 2025.
On January 19, the first electoral simulation and the presidential debate will take place.
If a second round is necessary, the proselytizing period will run from March 24 to April 10 and the final vote will be on Sunday, April 13.
Those elected in these elections will hold their positions during the period 2025-2029 and will replace those who were elected exceptionally in 2023, after then-president Guillermo Lasso decreed cross death.
