The Civil Protection and the Hydrometeorological Unit of Haiti will participate in the effort to save human lives, protect property and mitigate damage, as well as other partners who are motivated to help citizens during the hurricane period.
Haiti has been experiencing the 2024 cyclonic season since June 1, which will end on November 30, and according to forecasts it promises to be hyperactive.
A director of Haiti’s National Emergency Operations Center, Emmanuel Pierre, warned that the Antillean nation will face 23 named phenomena, including 11 potential hurricanes.
“All the forecasts made for this hurricane season with Colorado State University indicate that it could be hyperactive,” Pierre emphasized.
We have launched the national preparedness strategy for response to possible dangerous events in 2024 with several intervention logics, while defining priority axes.
Part of the efforts we want to direct to the prepositioning of goods and equipment for responses to weather events.
