Based on an investment plan in technologyand emphasis on Investigation and development, in less than a decade the company achieved an explosive level of annual growth. And one of its great impulses was its approval as a Mining Supplier, a certification that allowed it to install its main commercial operations center in the country.

The company’s activity also took a sharp turn with the emergence of the pandemic, when many industries came to a standstill. In 2020 they appealed to the know-how accumulated in facial protection to create a safety kit to prevent coronavirus infectionsconsisting of a transparent protector with anti-fogging treatment.

The beginning of regional expansion

At the beginning of 2014, they began regional expansion with the opening of a factory in San Pablo to supply the Brazilian market. This expansion plan was also leveraged by distribution agreements in different countries.

In January 2013 they entered the Federal Capital through the front door with the inauguration of offices in Puerto Madero, where in addition to commercial tasks they developed a Training and Prevention in Industrial Safety, which they exported along with their products to Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Then came the inauguration of a plant in Chile. And at the end of May 2024 they achieved one of the most desired objectives: with a investment of US$2.3 million They opened their own factory in Mexico, which also allows them to participate in the US market.

The founder of Libus, Lucas Argul, current global president of the company, participated in the inauguration of the factory in Mexico; and the general director of the Libus plant in Mexico, Mariano Zurlo.

Lucas Argul commented: “This fourth plant in Latin America is defined as a commercial operation growing towards other countries. We hope it will be the largest plant in this region, hopefully it will not be the last and we hope to continue expanding.”

“Mexico has a large and interesting manufacturing, mining, and oil industry, and we chose Nuevo León because we had already developed a part of the market in this place, which grows at a higher rate than the national average, in addition to its proximity to the American market that We are interested in attacking,” added Argul.

“We are very excited to come to Nuevo León and bring our best practices in high-quality product innovation to help people perform a safe job. “We are eager to add to Mexico’s competitiveness and have greater capacity to serve our clients for a sustainable future,” said Zurlo.

With an area of 2,500 square meters, the factory will supply the demand for safety and hygiene equipment in the maquiladora sector, which has almost 3 million direct employees.

It will also serve industries such as metallurgy, automotive, electronics, chemicals, food and textiles. It also targets new companies and others that have recently arrived in Mexico due to the nearshoring phenomenon due to its proximity to the United States market.

The plant is aimed at supplying the Mexican and North American markets, mainly, with a focus on the northern border and the emergence of states such as Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

The plant has, in its initial phase, 3 production lines dedicated to the production of helmets, glasses and hearing protectors. The total production capacity of the plant will be 280 thousand personal protective items (PPE) per month: 200 thousand glasses and 40 thousand hearing protectors and helmets, respectively.

A factory with sustainable practices

In this way, it is expected that in the medium term this plant will incorporate new production lines according to the Libus portfolio that covers more than 128 proprietary products for the head area divided into 7 segmented lines: head protection, eye protection, facial protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, welding protection, gas detection and autonomous equipment, in addition to all the line of services available for hygiene and safety professionals and leaders that include training, software, consumables dispatch, telemedicine, among others.

The research and innovation development applied in Nuevo León is what the company applied in Berazategui, which became your model plant for those it has in Chile, Brazil and now in Mexico.

That is why it has a complete focus on sustainable practicesranging from waste management, energy consumption, use of new easily degradable sustainable materials and eco-friendly packaging.

Differentiated manufacturing processes allow generating 10% less carbon emissions than the industry average.
