“Hide the pain, Harold,” is one of the most viral and recognized memes of recent years. Its protagonist is András Arató, who was in Chile to film an ice cream commercial a few years ago.
He is an older adult, currently 78 years old, who for years worked as an electrical engineer. However, the generic photos that he took in a session positioned him as a must-see on social networks.
The Hungarian-born man gave an interview to Vanity Fair, where he revealed how his life changed after his image became one of the most popular.
“At first I was angry, but going viral has changed my life and now I have a lot of friends. I have many followers from other generations, between 15 and 30 years old, and I am very grateful to destiny, to God or to whoever made this happen,” he said.
Regarding the beginning of his vitalized story, he stated that “I was curious to know what had happened to my photos, so I did some searching and I was happy because my image was associated with a university professor and a doctor.”
Days later, meanwhile, the first jokes came. “Some were very funny and I liked them too, but others not so much. There were disgusting ones. That was like an electric shock in my head,” she emphasized.
