The candidate Edmundo González Urrutia stated during an interview with CNN that he is not worried about a possible persecution and assured that he is “very calm, confident although aware of the enormous challenge” facing the opposition.

When asked about the possibility of something similar to what happened in the 2018 elections, which Maduro won amid widespread accusations of vote manipulation and a boycott by the opposition, González mentioned that he hopes that pressure from others countries force Maduro to act.
