A British police patrol ran over a cow twice on the streets of a small town in Surrey, in the south of England. The agent who was driving the vehicle was suspended, the force announced this Sunday.
It all happened on Friday night after the local police received a call about the sighting of a 10-month-old cow called “Beau Lucy”, in a residential area of the town of Staines-upon-Thames.

In the images, which circulated on social networks and British media, a police car is seen running over the animal twice. The first blow made the cow “fly” about 10 meters. With the second impact, he ended up with his head and upper body trapped under the vehicle.
The animal suffered a leg injury and was examined by a veterinarian. The owner declared to the agency PA that “it’s better.”
Criticism of the British Home Secretary
The scene sparked a wave of criticism against the police and the Interior Minister, James Cleverly, reacted in X. “I don’t see any reasonable need for such an action. “I have asked for urgent and complete explanations,” he questioned.

The police announced this Sunday that they had referred the case to the body that supervises the action of that security body and that they had “removed the officer in question from the field” pending the conclusion of the investigation.

The police explained on Saturday that, after several unsuccessful attempts to capture the cow and taking into account “public safety”, “the decision was made to stop it using a car.”
