In a dispatch sent the day before to local authorities and several ministries, the head of Government stressed that it is also urgent to detect, prevent and promptly address cases of trade and transportation of sick animals, as well as the dumping of dead animals that spread diseases and contaminate environment.

It is essential, added Minh Chinh, to carry out vaccination against livestock diseases, ensuring that more than 80 percent of the total mass is inoculated as soon as possible.

It is urgent to proceed in a timely and effective manner in immunization against avian influenza, rabies, African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease, among others, he said.

Statistics cited by the VNA news agency indicate that during this year African swine fever was reported in 410 communes in 40 provinces and cities, where 17,400 animals had to be slaughtered, a year-on-year increase of 53.74 percent. .

Foot-and-mouth disease, meanwhile, was detected in 44 communes in 13 provinces and cities, and rabies in 34.

It should be noted, the source noted, that one person died from the A/H5N1 avian flu virus and another was infected with A/H9N2.
