Brazil Heavy rains were recorded again this Sunday in the “Sierra Gaúcha”. As a consequence, the water fell to several nearby towns, such as Porto Alegre and the municipality of Dom Pedro de Alcântara, where collapsed the room of the Gruta Nossa Senhora de Lourdes before a mass begins.

Brazilian authorities confirmed that the number of deaths caused by the floods affecting all of Rio Grande do Sul, the Brazilian state where these cities are located, for at least two weeks, amounts to 151. In turn, at least 104 people are still missing.

The Torres Fire Department confirmed the incident in Dom Pedro de Alcântara, while military personnel are already on the scene. Several witnesses of the collapse from the room near the Gruta Nossa Senhora de Lourdes they filmed the moment, which generated great discomfort among those present, although no injuries were reported.

It occurred in a hillside region, a few minutes from Lagoa de Itapeva. Those who were in the cave before the collapse left in terror. “A catastrophe occurred and God saved us. Everything is falling. We don’t have any caves,” one of the people can be heard in Portuguese.
