The new legislation includes eight chapters with 65 articles, 11 of these newly added, while another 12 existing in the previous law were eliminated.

The objective of the new Archives Law (as amended) is to institutionalize the guidelines and policies of the Vietnamese Communist Party and the State to promote the application of information technology to meet the requirements of sustainable development and international integration.

It also seeks to innovate in management activities and the performance of archival operations, and to overcome the limitations faced by current archival practices.

Regarding the State’s policy on the matter, the Legislative website noted, the new law stipulates building a modern Vietnamese archive, meeting the requirements of state management, modernizing administration and serving the people.

It also seeks to ensure the necessary conditions for storage, prioritize public investment capital and other resources to modernize archives and promote their value, guarantee security and integrity, train and develop professional human resources and create a team of leading experts in this field. .

In this Friday’s session, the Vietnamese parliament also approved the Resolution on the establishment of a Thematic Supervision Team of the National Assembly 2025 that will evaluate the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection, based on the law put into effect in 2020.

The legislators also debated the Juvenile Justice Bill and agreed that it is necessary to build a system of rules that ensures more humane treatment of minor offenders, in line with the general trend of the world, thus demonstrating humanism and progress of the Vietnamese legal system.

In the afternoon session, the deputies analyzed the amendments to the Land, Housing, Real Estate Business and Credit Institutions laws.

The seventh session of the National Assembly of Vietnam began on May 20 and the first stage of work ended on June 8. The second takes place from the 17th to the 28th of this month.

Among the highlights of the initial phase were the election of the presidents of the Republic, General To Lam, and of the National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man, as well as the ratification of the appointment of Le Thanh Long as vice head of Government and Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security.
