MOSCOW.– At least five people died and more than 100 were injured today in a ukrainian bombing against the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russiawhich pointed out the “responsibility” of the United States in the attack for supplying weapons to kyiv.

“Responsibility for the deliberate missile bombing of civilians in Sevastopol lies primarily with Washington, which supplied these weapons to Ukraine,” but also with the authorities in kyiv, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The attacks on the port city of Sevastopol, which houses Russia’s Black Sea Fleet headquarters, “will not go unanswered,” he added. The Kremlin said the president Vladimir Putin He has been “in constant contact with the military” since the attack on Sevastopol.

According to the Russian Army, Ukraine used five Atacms missiles and four of them were “intercepted.”

In April, the United States announced that it had sent longer-range Atacms missiles to Ukraine, which had long sought them so they could strike beyond the front line.

At the end of May, Washington agreed that the Ukrainians could use American weapons to attack, in certain cases, military objectives in Russian territory near the city of Kharkiv.

This decision was made after the launch, in early May, of a surprise Russian ground offensive in that region.

Neither Ukraine nor the United States reacted to the bombing in Sevastopol, which according to the Moscow-installed governor, Mikhail Razvoyaiev, left five dead, including three children, and a hundred injured.

At least 124 people were injured, according to Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko. Among the injured are 27 children, five of whom are in serious condition, according to authorities.

The Ukrainian Army “hit Sevastopol in broad daylight with cluster ballistic missiles,” he declared. According to him, the “remnants” of downed missiles fell in “coastal areas.”

Videos published by Russian media show people on a beach fleeing after hearing explosions.

Sevastopol is a regular target of attacks and is located on the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow since 2014 and a key logistics point for the Russian Army.

Ukraine, faced with a Russian offensive for two years, usually responds with regular attacks on Russian regions or occupied areas.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the former Soviet republic committed “a terrorist attack against civilian infrastructure in Sevastopol, with American Atacms tactical missiles loaded with cluster bombs.”

The ministry detailed that four missiles were shot down, and the fifth changed its trajectory after being intercepted, which caused the charge to explode in the air over the city of Sevastopol.

In this context, Russia bombed Kharkov, the second city of Ukraine located in the northeast of the territory. The attacks left one dead and ten wounded, including two teenagers, according to regional governor Oleg Synegubov.

The city, near the Russian border, had already been the target of attacks on Saturday, which left two dead and about 50 wounded, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Kharkiv is partially deprived of electricity and its metro is “paralyzed”, declared the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskydemanding once again the sending of anti-aircraft defense systems.

Electricity operator Ukrenergo announced that power outages are expected throughout Ukraine today, due to damage to the network following “massive” Russian attacks.

A Ukrainian drone attack also caused one death and three injuries in Graivoron, a town in the Russian region of Belgorod, near the border with Ukraine, said Governor Viacheslav Gladkov.

The Belgorod region is a frequent target of Ukrainian attacks. kyiv claims to defend itself from Russian attacks against its own territory.

Zelensky urged allied countries to help kyiv intensify its attacks on Russian soil.

“We have enough determination to destroy the terrorists on their territory” and “we need the same determination from our partners,” the president wrote.

“Modern anti-aircraft systems for Ukraine, such as Patriot, accelerated training of our pilots for F-16s and, most importantly, sufficient range for our weapons, are really necessary,” he said.
