After the first US presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, in which the Democrat showed problems of agility in his responses, The question of whether the current president and candidate should resign has been raised. This is also because there are several videos in which Biden is seen disoriented and there are concerns about his state of health.
In context: Could Joe Biden be replaced as a candidate for the US presidential election?
Given this scenario, the truth is that the presidential primaries have already been held in all the states. Unless Biden himself resigns, the rules say delegates are required to support him at the national convention in August. If that doesn’t happen and Biden decides to withdraw his candidacy, who could replace him?

Kamala Harris, current vice president and Biden’s running mate, could not receive Biden’s candidacy. She could support other Democratic candidates at home if the convention so decides. They talk about California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and California Representative Ro Khanna.
Other figures, although with much fewer possibilities, could run: Senators Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, as well as Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
Democrats are trying hard to shut down rumors of a possible replacement for Joe Biden. For example, Gavin Newsom, one of the most prominent faces of the party, appeared serious when faced with constant questions from journalists, to whom he replied that the 81-year-old president “He has my support and we are with him.”
However, senior officials are thinking about going to the White House and publicly requesting that Biden retire so that “someone more qualified” can take the helm.
The Democratic Party still has to hold its national convention in August, which could generate a possible change of applicant, But it would be a situation never seen before in the history of the United States.
