These initial results correspond to the count of 11,425 voting centers, of a total of 58,640 enabled for voting during the day throughout the country, installed mainly in educational and religious sites.

Initial estimates of the election result will continue to be anticipated until Saturday morning and the conclusive count is expected on Sunday.

According to Article 117 of the Iranian Constitution, the person who wins an absolute majority in the first round of elections, that is, half of the total votes, which represents 50 percent plus one, becomes President.

In compliance with local electoral regulations, if none of the candidates obtains 50 percent of the votes plus one vote, the two candidates with the most support at the polls would face each other in a second round, which will be held next Friday, July 5.
