Since its formation this afternoon, Tropical Depression Two has shown signs of improved organization in its circulation, as well as an increase in areas of heavy rain in the vicinity of its center, so it was determined that it has become Tropical Storm Beryl, the second of this season. Its maximum sustained winds are now estimated at 65 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts and a minimum central pressure of 1006 hectopascals.

At 11 p.m., its central region was located at 9.3 degrees north latitude and 43.6 degrees west longitude, a position that places it about 1,785 kilometers east-southeast of Barbados, the easternmost island in the Lesser Antilles arc. It is moving in a direction close to the west at a rate of 30 kilometers per hour.

Over the next 12 to 24 hours, it should continue moving in a west-northwesterly direction, gaining more organization and intensity and could become a hurricane on Sunday, before reaching the Lesser Antilles arc, the eastern limit of the Caribbean Sea.

Due to its evolution and future trajectory, this tropical cyclone is being closely monitored.

The next advisory on this system will be issued at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
