Deaths from extreme sports, although rare, often occur due to a lack of caution on the part of the people who practice it. Such is the case of a French acrobat known for practicing adventure sports who died after falling from a high-rise building in Hong Kong.

According to the New York Post, 30-year-old Remi Lucidi was climbing the Tregunter Tower complex when the man fell from the 68th floor and died instantly.

According to Hong Kong officials, Lucidi arrived at the building around 6:00 pm and told the security guard that he was visiting a friend who was living on the top floor.

Later, the guard realized that the resident of the apartment did not know him. However, it was too late to stop him as Lucidi was already in the elevator.

Images captured by video surveillance cameras show Lucidi reaching the 49th floor and then walking up the stairs to the top of the building.

Police said the man was last seen alive at 7:38 p.m. when he banged on the complex’s attic window, prompting a woman to call police.

The source, who has not been identified, said police believe Lucidi was trapped outside the penthouse and was banging on the window for help before the unfortunate accident.

A source close to the incident revealed that police found Lucidi’s camera at the scene and it contained videos of his other death-defying acts.

Police have yet to issue an official cause of death.

Lucidi, known online as Remi Enigma, was an extreme sports enthusiast and often traveled the world performing similar feats.
