In the city of Monteria, there is mourning after the news of the cruel murder of the renowned surgeon and reconstructive doctor, Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, on the island of Koh Phangan, located in the southeast of Thailand, where he was enjoying a vacation.

The doctor’s body was dismembered and placed in fertilizer sackswhich were later dumped in a garbage dump, where they were found by collectors between Thursday and Friday.

According to the Thai authorities, the 44-year-old doctor had reserved a room in a hotel on the island from July 31 to August 3, but he disappeared last Wednesday night after being seen in the company of a Spanish citizen iidentified as Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, 29, who has been detained for questioning in connection with the disappearance and subsequent murder of the specialist.

After learning about this heinous murder, the mayor of Montería, Carlos Ordosgoitia, expressed his regret through a trill, lamenting the death of the doctor and declaring: “Edwin’s departure hurts our souls. Great human being, friend and excellent professional. Our most sincere condolences and a big hug to all his family. RIP”

The death of Dr. Edwin Arrieta Arteaga has shocked the medical community and the city of Montería, where he was widely recognized and loved. Local authorities and competent entities are attentive to investigations in Thailand to clarify this terrible event and bring those responsible to justice.
