The best food and cooking photos of the year come together in the Pink Lady Food Photographer of The Year

One more year the most prestigious gastronomic photography contest in the world Pink Lady Food Photographer of The Year has announced the winners of this 2024 edition. And in the line that has been common in recent years, the jury has awarded photographs that are closer to documentary style than to the biased vision of the gastronomic photo with which Instagram bombards us daily.

Zhonghua Yang’s photograph titled “Red Bean Paste Balls” was the overall winner of the contest. The image was captured during a party to celebrate the Spring Festival in China, where it is a tradition to cook its popular dim sumred bean dumplings and steamed rice cakes to welcome the lunar new year.

The legacy of craftsmanship marks this holiday and Yang knew how, without a doubt, to capture the essence of the tradition with his camera. The image has also been the winner in the Taittinger Champagne category, one of the 28 included in the contest.

Other foods, cultures, beliefs and customs take us to different places in the world, where authors from more than 75 different countries have presented their works with food as a common thread.
