The Museum of Spanish Abstract Art in Cuenca will once again have the bulk of its works starting in mid-July. This was confirmed by Manuel Fontán del Junco, director of Museums and Exhibitions at the Juan March Foundation, and María Toledo, head of the Exhibition Project at the Foundation, during the presentation this Thursday of the exhibition with nearly 200 works by Jordi Teixidor.

Currently, works such as ‘Abesti Gogorra IV’ by Eduardo Chillida, ‘Latido’ by Eduardo Sempere or ‘Brigitte Bardot’ by Antonio Saura are in the Madrid headquarters of the Juan March Foundation, due to the exhibition «The smallest museum “beautiful in the world” which opened on Friday, April 26 and will end on June 30.

Fontán del Junco has stated that Teixidor’s exhibition “will improve its context from, more or less, July 15”, once the traveling exhibition in Madrid has finished. For her part, María Toledo explained that after June 30, the works must still be installed in Cuenca.

And, taking into account the process of packaging, transportation, disassembly of the works that are currently replacing those that have traveled and assembly of those that are returning, this can make the time extend until the middle of next month.

These works have been outside Cuenca since June 2022, since, in addition to Madrid, they have been in Granada, Barcelona, Dallas (United States) and Koblenz (Germany). Some of the references of Spanish abstraction between the 50s and 80s are represented: Zóbel himself, Gustavo Torner, Antonio Saura, Eduardo Chillida, Antoni Tàpies, Jorge Oteiza, José Guerrero, Pablo Palazuelo, Luis Feito, Eusebio Sempere, Modest Cuixart and Soledad Sevilla, among others.
