After working against the clock, the list of missionary authors who have the possibility of presenting their book in the national window representing the Buenos Aires International Fair, on Thursday, May 2, was announced.

Yesterday afternoon, the Reading Committee finished its selection task. The list of works and authors is as follows:

“Notes with stories and other pages”, by Rosita Escalada Salvo (selection of historical journalistic notes)
“The large ranch of Itapúa”, by Julio Cantero (Analysis of the occupation of the territory of Posadas between 1620 and 1800).
“The Earth Without You”, by Andrea Ferrari Kristeller (short novel)
“Doppel – GÄ nger: Eins”, by Ludoviko Cortés Romero (poetry)
“The Accountant – Stories from here and there”, by Marcelo Horacio Dacher (stories)
“Mboyeré”, by Jorge Cardoso (stories)
“Flowers grow in the Roundabout at 6”, by Lea Pompom (poetry)
“The Oberá massacre – 1936”, by Silvia Andrea Waskiewicz (historical essay)
“Artiguismo and its legacy, by Pedro Félix Guridi (historical essay)
“Life and Work in Alto Paraná”, coordinated by Jorge Alcaraz (critical reissue).

The day for Misiones is Thursday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the Tulio Halperin Donghi room, at the “La Rural” fairgrounds. It should be noted that the Province will be responsible for the transfer and accommodation of the writers. “We are taking a delegation representing the popular libraries of our province, to the book purchase day that CONABIP enables them,” said Secretary of Culture Joselo Schuap.

The presentation of Missions at this Fair occurs in a context in which this possibility was closed. However, through direct negotiations with the “El Libro” Foundation (organizer of the FDL) it was possible to obtain this date so that Misiones can present itself. “We did not want to lose the prestigious showcase that is that Fair. And we achieved it, within the framework of the reality that we have in the country today, with cultural support and funds to the provinces suspended. So we are very proud,” Schuap continued.

“We are working against the clock to summon the writers and make the selection,” said Laura Lagable, undersecretary of Development and Cultural Regions, of the Secretary of State for Culture. The Reading Committee was made up of Osvaldo Mazal, Lucia Pérez Campos, Liliana Nery, Ivana Roth and Carla Andruskevicz.

The established requirements were that they be books published in 2023, as well as that they be individually authored. In the chosen works, the originality of the theme or approach, the editing work, as well as the care in aspects related to the language (syntax, spelling, relevance) were valued. It was also sought that the selection be a reflection of the variety of genres presented.
