Mariela Carabajal was nominated for new artist at the 2024 Gardel Awards: “I am very excited”
With a strong folkloric roots and a path in musical composition, Mariela Carabajal was nominated in the new artist category at the Gardel 2024 awards. This award will be presented to outstanding musicians and composers this Tuesday, the 28th of this year at the Movistar Arena stadium in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Regarding this announcement, Nuevo Diario spoke with the singer and commented upon learning of her nomination: “I knew that we were nominated, because the label I work with nominated us and my band for the Gardel awards and I found out that we are nominated, totally welcome. The truth is that everything was very pleasant, it moved me because it is a recognition to my colleagues and me for so much effort, since I have taken art with professionalism since I was 18,” Mariela remarked.

Mariela said that the album with which she was nominated in the category is “Del Interior”, she released it in August of last year and said: “’Del Interior’ which has 9 songs in which there are my own songs and songs by authors that I love and I admire Enrique Marquetti, Pablo Carabajal, Cuti Carabajal.
I am very grateful for this album that I released in August of last year and I was presenting it before releasing it, so we were at several festivals and places where we were very well received. Being that it is an album that is from the heart, it has a lot of feeling, where I talk about love in all its forms. “I am very happy with how far it has come, because you shoot the arrow and you don’t know where it will go,” she said, happy at the news of knowing that she will be able to represent Santiago from her place and his art.
New ways
Furthermore, Mariela commented that her composition process continues and expressed: “Now I have composed new songs to see if I can record another album, I would like to, but the current culture is very difficult, there in the struggle, being that one is music independent, so I am very happy that they take us into account and in the shortlist of new musician I know that I am the one who represents folklore, I feel proud to continue with this ancient culture.”
“The Blue Star”
Mariela is part of the filming staff of the film “La Estrella Azul”, a film directed by the Spanish Javier Macipe and is about the trip that took him to Santiago del Estero to the musician Mauricio Aznar, where he met Carlos Carabajal. In this film, Mariela worked and commented on it: “The film ‘La Estrella Azul’ will arrive in Santiago and we will be present, it already premiered in Spain in February and possibly in May or June it will be presented. And, surely, because of the difficult situation of Incaa, they wanted to close it, which makes it cumbersome. But when they want to present it we will be there,” she concluded.
