This Thursday, the University of Jaén celebrated one of the most important activities in its cultural calendar. The activity of the UJA throughout the year is intense, and so has today’s day with the celebration of the Book Festival. Precisely, the rector of the University of Jaén has highlighted its importance, classifying it as one of the “most consolidated activities in the UJA cultural calendar.”

Up to a dozen booths have been installed on the Lagunillas Campus, where a good number of specimens have been exhibited and acquired. Specific, In the UJA booth, around 160 titles are displayed, mostly from the UJA Editorial label.included in sixteen of the new collections.

Nicolás Ruiz has highlighted that “Reading is a healthy activity from all points of view, since it gives life, hence we must support it from all spaces and, fundamentally, from the University.”

This programming also contemplated a special program on UniRadio Jaén with interviews with authors of the latest UJA Editorial news. The programs ‘Café Literario’ and ‘En MI Mayor’ are also broadcast on the radio of the University of Jaén.

Within this framework of the Jaén Book Fair, the UJA holds the conference ‘Women writers of the 19th century in Andalusia: Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, precursor of anti-slavery literature’ and you can visit the Artist Book exhibition 2024 at the Old Teaching School of Jaén.

With all this, the rector has highlighted that “Culture is configured as one of the best ways to make a province” and, therefore, the UJA considers it “a strategic and priority area” because “this dynamic line of cultural projection contributes, without a doubt, to the University being strengthened as a space for meeting and reflection, in which diversity and all those bets that help coexist to generate progress”.
