The president of the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), Germán Guido Lavalle, visited this Monday the Balseiro Institute space at the 48th Buenos Aires International Book Fair. Since Wednesday of last week, talks, experiments and presentations were held there by teachers and researchers from the three CNEA academic institutes: Balseiro, Sabato and Dan Beninson.
A team of researchers, teachers and science and technology disseminators spoke with the public and invited them to carry out various experiments on the phenomena of light, electromagnetism, radiation in daily life and energy transformations. In addition, he answered the questions of those interested in pursuing the degrees in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanics and Telecommunications taught at the institute based in Bariloche.
During these days there were also professionals from the Sabato and Dan Beninson institutes, who explained how materials and applications of radiation in medicine are studied.
Guido Lavalle highlighted the importance of the three training institutes that the CNEA has “training professionals of excellence for many years.”
This Tuesday at 11 in the morning, the Balseiro will say goodbye to its participation in the fair by offering the workshop for school teachers “Concepts and practices to bring the production of green hydrogen to the classroom”, within the framework of the 21st edition of the Forum International Science and Technology Teaching. This training will be given by physicists Andrés Biasetti and Pierre Arneodo Larrochette in the Balseiro space located in the Explora Zone of the Yellow Pavilion of the fair.
About the institutes
Created in 1955, the Balseiro Institute (IB) is located in the Bariloche Atomic Center and was the first of the CNEA academic centers. Subsequently, its formalization was finalized through a joint agreement between this organization and the National University of Cuyo (UNCuyo).
In 1993, the Sabato Institute was added, located in the Constitucióntes Atomic Center, which operates through an agreement between the National University of General San Martín (UNSaM) and the CNEA.
The youngest training center is the Dan Beninson Institute of Technology (IDB), established at the Ezeiza Atomic Center (CAE), it was created in 2006 based on an agreement also between the CNEA and the UNSaM.
In the three university entities, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses are taught, as well as courses, diplomas and specializations with different orientations. The educational offer includes a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Nuclear, Mechanical, Telecommunications and Materials engineering.
