BILBAO, May 9. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Carlos Sobera presents this Thursday in Bilbao “A contracorriente”, a biographical book in which the Basque presenter, in what he announces will be the first installment of his memoirs, narrates his childhood and adolescence and the changes in professional direction that took him from teaching to world of acting to television.

In statements to Europa Press, Sobera (Barakaldo, 1960) explains that, mainly, what he wanted to tell in this first book “the story of a dream, which is that of being an actor that I had from a very young age until today.” as well as “which has motivated me, by the way, to also have to tell what my life has been like and also that of this country for so many years, like the 64 years that I am now.”

The Biscayan reveals that he wanted to tell his life but “in a simple way, without pretensions, without lessons to learn or even giving advice so that readers can draw their own conclusions.”

Asked why he was looking for this autobiographical book, Sobera states that it is not a self-help book because he hates them and is not looking for anything, but rather “to find readers, soulmates and people of interest who know the essentials of me.”

In this sense, he states that “A contracorriente” also wants to be “an encouragement for all those who have a dream, who are excited about doing or achieving something material or spiritual because they believe it will give meaning to their lives.”

After ensuring that he has not invented “idyllic hobbies or saying that he is falsely romantic and detail-oriented,” he affirms that he does not want to win over readers in that way, “at least, not at any price.”

Nor, he assures, does he write to “settle accounts, much less to pass bills, and certainly never to get revenge on anyone” because he wants the book to be “good-natured, like me; which does not mean that sometimes I get angry and It even makes me sad; that’s life, I didn’t invent it,” he states in that sense in the prologue.

Regarding whether things have been saved, the Biscayan presenter jokes that, to begin with, “you always have to save things but you don’t tell them about some of them because “if not, readers won’t buy the second book.”

Regarding the title he has chosen, Sobera reveals that going against the grain summarizes what “he has always been as a kid and later, as an older man, who is someone who has always been doing a little bit of what, precisely, he did not expect.” of the”.

“I have always believed that to write a book as personal as A contracorriente one must have many good secrets, or in this case, brilliant wisdom. Well, neither one thing nor the other. I have secrets, of course I have them, but they are few. and not very confessable. In fact, I do not confess any” he expands in the prologue that opens the book.

The presenter acknowledges that he has never been “sure of anything” and that, although he has studied a lot, “he has forgotten more”, something “disappointing if you take into account the number of cultural competitions that I have presented,” he ironically says.

However, the popular television face continues, “without interest, without curiosity, you can’t learn anything and curiosity, for me, feeds life, even if it kills the cat.” “It is true that I went to university and studied Law and that I even prepared for two years for competitive examinations for the notary body,” he jokes again, but his life and decisions took him down “other paths.”
