The beginnings of Sigur Rós recounted in a biographical book

It has just been published in Iceland, “…the best that God has created… The story of Sigur Rós”a book that chronicles the early days of the band Iceland until their international success.

Its full title is “…the best that God has created… Hope that turned into a good beginning… The Story of Sigur Rós” and it is the first biographical book in which the early days of the Icelandic band are recounted.

Work of the Icelandic writer Svanur Már Snorrasonalthough published in English, the book recounts in just over a hundred pages the steps leading up to the birth of Sigur Rós, his beginnings until reaching “Von” and “Von brigði”the group’s relationship with Smekkleysa Records, later the creation and release of “Agaetis byrjun” (99), as well as the first moments of the international explosion of the band Jónsi Pór Birgisson, Georg Hólm and Kjartan Sveinsson.

Throughout its pages, the author not only tells us about the group and its context, but also provides information about Iceland, the relevance of the band in the scene and its importance for Icelandic music. He also interviews not only the members of the formation, but some journalists and people from the local industry.

Without vocation to be the great book about Sigur Rós, this is a work that shows – outside of the usual exaggerations in this type of biographical works – the path followed by some young Icelanders since they started with their first pop rock groups. until they become one of the most personal groups in international independent music.

At the moment, its translation into Japanese has also been confirmed and we hope that one day we will be able to see it published in our country. In any case, you can get a copy by writing to: [email protected]
