Narrated by Amelia and Nelly Marie, youngest granddaughters of legendary Dominican artist Johnny Ventura, ‘The Legacies of Grandpa Johnny’ is a book that celebrates the immortal tradition of the Dominican known to the world as ‘El Caballo Mayor’, and offers an intimate look to his family life and achievements in his successful musical career, reflecting that family, hard work, perseverance, and the importance of following one’s dreams were the keys to his success.

“Through the pages of this book, readers are invited to immerse themselves in a story full of love, adventure, and valuable teachings. The girls share their experiences and memories with their adorable grandfather Johnny, highlighting the special moments they shared with him and how his influence has significantly shaped their lives,” states the press release released by the artist’s daughter, Euri Ventura.

It should be noted that the presentation of the book in Miami took place last Monday, May 13 at the Miami-Dade College West Campus, an event attended by community personalities such as Esteban Bovo, mayor of Hialeah; councilor Christian Cevallos; Davidia Jiménez and Carla Hernández, who serve as vice consuls of the Dominican Republic; as well as notable artists such as Erika Ender and Lena Burke.

For attendees, the event was filled with emotion and nostalgia thanks to the presence of the artist’s widow, Josefina Flores de Ventura, who expressed her gratitude, highlighting the sentimental value and deep meaning behind the book ‘The Legacies of Grandpa Johnny’.

“This literary work is a dream come true, a way to honor Johnny’s memory and share his legacy with new generations. I wholeheartedly thank our dear granddaughters Nelly and Amelia for their beautiful narration,” said the artist’s widow who She was always accompanied by her children.

“It is an honor to be able to share the life story of this remarkable and beloved figure with the children of the world in this special way. I hope that this book brings joy and lessons to all who read it, and that his legacy continues to inspire generations future,” said the popular child psychologist, Ileana Montero de Atallah, who served as author of the book that has illustrations by the Dominican-Spanish artist, Taína Almodóvar.

During the ceremony, posthumous recognitions were presented to Johnny Ventura by Mayor Esteban Bovo, who declared May 13 as Johnny Ventura Day in the city of Hialeah; and by Councilman Christian Cevallos, who awarded the family a Certificate of Appreciation highlighting Ventura as an international icon.
