The Undersecretary of Culture participates in the 40th Provincial Book Fair and the 20th edition of the Patagonian Book Fair that takes place in Gaiman until next Sunday, June 9.

Both events, already traditional in the field of Chubut culture, are organized by the Municipality of Gaiman and the “Richard J. Berwyn” Popular Library, with the strong support of the provincial government.

The Undersecretary of Culture set up a special stand where the different activities and areas of the provincial portfolio are displayed, emphasizing the promotion of books by local authors in Braille, thus enabling blind people to access titles by various Chubut writers who They published their books through the Provincial Editorial Fund.

The copies exhibited are “Vacaciones en polleras” and “Botones”, by Margarita Sacks; “The winding of clocks filing time”, by compilers Luis Carranza, Noelia González and Fernanda Maciorowski; “Malvinas in fragments”, by the compiler Viviana Aylef and “The glass mansion”, by Julia Chaktoura.

The imprint of the space suggests the power of reading with all the senses. For this, those who visit the stand will not only be able to observe and experience reading in Braille, but will also experience the pleasure of reading through audios and text projections.

In turn, the Undersecretary of Culture at its stand offers books from the Provincial Editorial Fund for sale and crafts from the Provincial Heritage are also exhibited, which are winning pieces from different events.

Objects that are treasured in the Natural Sciences and Oceanographic Museums of Puerto Madryn, as well as in the Perón Family Museum in Camarones and in the Malvinas Soldier Museum in Rawson are also exhibited at the Book Fair.

In addition, the exhibition “Tehuelches – Waleses” that belongs to the Provincial Cultural Center is also being exhibited.

The presence at both fairs also contributes to the Undersecretariat of Culture promoting Accessible Libraries, incorporating titles by authors from our province in the Braille system, whose transcription was carried out with the collaboration of the Cen.Co.Bra workshop, which operates in the Rawson Institute of Security and Resocialization Unit 6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service, headed by Professor Sady Dumens.
