The writer Carlos Romano will announce these days his second book. ‘Seven stories. Memories? ‘Stories?’, such is the name of the volume of almost one hundred and seventy pages containing seven chapters, to be published by El Imprero, of this city. The initial print run will be forty copies, soon on sale at Mundo Gurí and in the hands of the author himself.

Romano began preparing this work at the beginning of January of this year. Yamila Asín, from El printer, was a decisive figure in the assembly, with her suggestions and corrections, the author highlighted in a conversation with the newspaper. She is his first reader and his proofreader, the one who “puts that feminine imprint that always improves things,” the writer highlighted.

The cover design was authored by Yamila herself, based on a photo provided by Romano.

Those questions in the title already talk about the content.
– The book begins with an anecdote of mine in Urdampilleta, from when I was a boy. And then, they are stories of things that happened to me, others that happened to other people and they told me about them, and others that happened to people who are no longer here.

They are real events but fictionalized, or intervened, by the author’s pen, so that “they are entertaining, interesting.”

These seven stories cover a time span that goes from Romano’s childhood, in his native Urdampilleta, to several decades later.

He began writing it at the beginning of January of this year, and less than two months later Siete Historias was ready. “Along with this work I started another, which I am still correcting and adding things to, and which will see the light later,” he announced. But there is much more: “I have another book ready to be released at the end of this month, about the history of a fort and some soldiers; another with humorous stories and one more, in full development,” grouped the author, a prolific man of letters since he began writing a few years ago. Although as a child the vice for words had emerged, for playing with them like someone rubbing sticks in search of lighting a fire, this man who was a bank worker only at this stage of his life found the time and inner disposition to sit down. to create stories through writing, ultimately one of the great passions of his life although the awakening was not early.

What are the themes of Seven Stories?
– The first story talks about the chatas (as a child, Romano was passionate about the chatas, of seeing them pass through the Urdampilletenses places near his house). Then, there is one that talks about a student’s love for a classmate, which ends in something surprising; another is set in the time of covid: a man separates from his wife, because although they loved each other they were not going well, and someone appears there (perhaps a new love?).

These are some of the themes and texts in the book. The last story tells the experiences of a gardener looking for work. They hire him in a place where he learns to read and excels, and various episodes occur with the owners of that place.

The Chatas, The Brother, Second Chance and The Donor are some of the titles in Siete Historias.
