The authors commented that the idea of working together arose from the experience in creating the cover art for “It’s useless that you run” (2022). Then came the possibility of publishing in Diario Norte’s Chaqueña supplement and, with it, the idea of collaborating on an intense and sustained project over the course of a year.
“We discovered that we had similar creation processes from two different disciplines such as drawing and writing. “So we developed a dynamic in which sometimes a finished or in-process text appeared from which the drawing emerged or, on the contrary, it was the graphite work that inspired the writing,” they explained. In this sense, they added: “it also happened that a considerable number of publications were forged in the exchange of ideas about possible stories or drawings that took shape as we talked about them.”
The 27 publications included in this compilation were the result of this work in which “through trial and error we oiled the gears of the creative machine of which we often felt like mere fuel rather than machinists.”
“Our idea for the book was for texts and drawings to dialogue with each other. That is why you will see that in the pages both are intertwined as a reflection of the work that led to them.”
About the authors
Gabriela Vacca has a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art Curation, an Elementary Professor of Academic Dance and has extensive training in theater. She trained in fine arts with Mario Quinteros. She participated in the exhibitions Cuatromanos, Por H o por B and La Poliográfico with the drawing collective “Por H o por B” and she held her first solo exhibition, Tramados, at the Centro Cultural Nordeste. She has the permanent exhibition, The Arts, in Room 88. She made the cover art for the book “It’s useless for you to run.”
Marco Fernández Leyes is a journalist, writer and guitarist. He has been practicing the profession for more than 20 years, he was a university professor and trainer. He wrote the books “Tragadero. Tales and stories” and “It’s useless that you run”, he integrated several SADE Chaco anthologies and regularly participates in Diario Norte’s Chaqueña magazine. He joined hard rock and heavy metal bands, acoustic and solo projects, and ventured into theatrical performance and as a playwright of the short play “Cicatrices.”
