The study “Reading Habits, Writing and Consumption of New Formats”, carried out by Ipsos Digital, indicates that 65% of its respondents have the perception that it is “complicated” to publish a book.

Self-publishing tools are increasingly popular: artists, writers and content creators no longer necessarily have to go through a record label or publisher to have their albums produced or their books printed.

One of these tools is Kindle Direct Publishing, a platform through which writers can publish their writings on the Amazon platformretaining editorial control, copyright and receiving up to 70% of the revenue generated from sales.

Thus, the 11th edition of the Amazon Storyteller literary award seeks to reward authors in Spanish who use this publication method.

Entries may be submitted with writings of up to 24 pages in length, published before August 31.

The jury for this edition will be made up of Federico Buyolo, cultural director of the Ortega-Marañón Foundation; Juan Gómez-Jurado, highly successful writer who has published best-sellers such as Reina Roja; Pilar González, winner of the last edition of the Amazon Storyteller Literary Award with her novel “Words of Ashes”; the Ecuadorian writer Kristel Ralston, finalist for the second edition of the award and author of more than 30 romantic novels and Fernando Bonete, university professor, journalist and creator of cultural content.
