The District Institute of the Arts – Idartes comes to this Festival in its Literary Cyclewhere attendees will be able to access the books in the collection Book in the Wind completely freely.

“Our Libro al Viento collections are an excellent way to get closer to reading, but also to discover the city or, in general terms, to marvel at varied and entertaining stories, consolidating reading as a cultural right of all the inhabitants of Bogotá,” said Maria Claudia Parias, director of Idartes.

“This is an interesting opportunity for those people who want to discover, for example, titles like The prayer of the last frog and other chroniclesa compilation of writings by Luis Tejada, a chronicler, journalist and poet who died in September 1924, whose vision portrays the country of his time through the press, aligning with the purpose of the Gabo Festival of hosting diverse stories and narrators that They support the journalistic method to investigate and tell reality,” adds Parias.

How to enjoy these books?

To access the copies of Libro al Viento it is only necessary to look for the Literary Cycle in the plaza of the kindergarten classrooms of the Gimnasio Moderno during the Gabo Festival or go to any of the distribution points that are throughout Bogotá.

You just need to want to read them, as no payment or personal data is requested, as the texts are conceived as a public good and, therefore, it is expected that, once read, they will be left free so that other readers can enjoy them.

The Literary Cycle

This program was born in the middle of the pandemic, as a way to bring literature closer to people who, for public health reasons, had to avoid coming into contact with anyone else, so they could not visit libraries or other closed places, reducing the risk of contagion of covid-19.

Now, the Literary Cycle is a library on wheels that moves reading around Bogotá, with the aim of generating an appropriation of literature in the city.
